Pennies for Pointe Sponsors Dance Students from South Africa

Within the last month, Paula Brown Performing Arts Center, Home of The Brown Ballerinas, hosted a group of students from the Ezintle School of Dance based in Pretoria, South Africa, in which they attended Ms. Brown’s summer intensive program. Paula Brown is an accomplished dancer, singer, actress, choreographer, certified ballet instructor, private coach, and motivational speaker. Ms. Brown has extensive experience in both the concert and commercial dance world, theatre, film, and vocal music. She founded her dance school with the mission of bringing classical ballet to the African American communities in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and abroad through touring, educational programs, outreach and media.

Pennies for Pointe was able to collaborate with Paula Brown Performing Arts Center to sponsor the leotards, tights, and shoes, for a group of 27 students coming to the DMV from Pretoria, South Africa, on a cultural exchange.  This donation of 27 uniforms is our biggest donation to date! We are extremely grateful to have been able to support such a project.
